Shake Shack!!! (Finally!)

Shake Shack is truly a famous New York institution, located only 2 blocks from my apartment in the lovely Madison Square Park and known for greasy burgers and creamy shakes and custards. When I first moved to NYC and told my friends here where I was living, their initial reaction was "OMG, you live so close to the Shake Shack...you HAVE to go!!" Well, ten months later, I FINALLY made it!

Upon waking up the day after Halloween (hungover and STARVING) Zach and I decided that THIS would be the day. Luckily, it was a gorgeous Nov. 1st, sunny and warm (which is rare, for sure...) The nicer the weather, the longer the line at Shake Shack. In the summer, it could wind its way around the park, seemingly going on for hundreds and hundreds of people. Saturday, it wasn't so bad. We probably waited in line for 20+ minutes, and as we did, Zach made the decision that we were just going to "glutton out." (A term I have never used before, but plan to do so from here on out. ) We opted for the $8.00 "double stack" which consists of a cheeseburger topped with a fried portabella mushroom which is stuffed with over 2 INCHES of melted cheese. OMG. Decadent does not BEGIN to describe it. We also got fries, of course, and if I wasn't feeling guilty enough about this to begin with, Zach's brings to the table a "surprise" he ordered. A pumpkin pie custard. OMG. It consisted of vanilla soft serve mixed together with smashed up pumpkin pie (crust and all!) and topped with whipped cream. Pure decadence. But a wonderful way to mend a hangover. :)

The line

The burger...please note the 2 inches of cheese...I was NOT exaggerating!
